September 2005 - A Very Sad Story with a Happy Ending.
My lovely cat Clemence disappeared while I was away trading at The Royal
International Horse show at Hickstead and because he was 16 years old everyone thought that he had gone off to die. I searched everywhere for him
and although I had a fantastic show at Hickstead I felt terrible because I was away at the time. I had a good friend staying at my house and she felt
awful too because he just vanished. Two months have passed and there’s not a day that’s gone by without me have a good old cry. I prayed every night
that he would come home and always felt that somebody had taken him. My poor mum, friends, neighbours and family were distraught.
I had a phone call on Monday 13th September from a local
Veterinary Surgery telling me that they had my cat and as he was micro-chipped they had scanned
him and found my details. I was told that a lady had taken him because he reminded her of a cat she used to own and that she was slightly deranged.
It was her son that had bought the cat to the surgery because he looked so
thin and ill and he was worried for the animals health. I was so disgusted that somebody could just take a cat that has a collar on it knowing that it’s not a stray and keep it. Clemence is in very poor health at the moment
and my vet Stuart from Medivet is doing all he can for him as he has lost 1.5 kilos in weight and has some horrible wounds on his body which we’re not
sure what they are.
For anybody that owns a pet I highly recommend that you have it
micro-chipped, as without that I would never have seen my beloved cat Clemence again.
It’s strange because I had cancelled my Petplan insurance on the day that
Clemence was found and they were very kind and re-instated it back for me so a big thank you to
Petplan.
I will post a photo of Clemence as soon as he's made a recovery.
